Sri Varadharaja Swamy Temple
Hangala village is situated at a distance of 10kms from Gundlupet town. Sri Varadharaja Swamy Temple was built during the reign of Vaishnava’s in 10th century AD. The temple was built in 3 stages. However the garbhagriha and sukhanasi could be attributed to the Gangas of Talakadu, inside navaranga’s Madhava statue is of Hoysala style and the eastern part of Mukhamantapa seems to have strong resemblance to the architectural style of Vijayanagara dynasty. The restoration work carried out during 2003-04. This is a protected monument of Department of State Archeology, Government of Karnataka. After the restoration work, the daily pooja is being performed in the temple.
